Produced by Blumhouse Productions and Stryker Entertainment, it is based on the video game franchise of the same name created by Cavathon, who also serves as producer along with Jason Blum. The film stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lyle, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard.
Roy Lee, David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith were to produce it, with Gil Kenan announced as director and co-writer. A film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s began development in April 2015 with Warner Bros. Pictures involved. Columbus also eventually left the project, and Emma Tammy was announced as her replacement in October 2022. The main cast was confirmed in December, while other cast members were signed in March 2023. Filming began on February 1 in New Orleans and ended on April 3, 2023. After several delays in production, the Warner Bros. version was not moving forward and Kennan exited the project. In March 2017, Bloomhouse Productions was announced as the new production company, with Chris Columbus directing and co-writing.
